Because you will feel amazing for it!
Ok, thats one, fantastic, reason aside I think it’s wise to question any new lifestyle that you are curious about. Not only that, it’s always fun to have some useful and interesting facts to hand when asked why you adopt a plant-based diet!
Below are my reasons as to why more people, like yourself, should be considering introducing a more Plant-Based Diet into their lifestyle:
1) It Reduces Your Carbon Footprint
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you will have undoubtedly witnessed reports on the sad state of our environment. To help in any way that we can, it starts with you!
The biggest way to reduce your carbon footprint is to stop eating animals. I can hear your protests, loud and clear, but consider how animals that are raised as a source of food, use a tonne of resources that have a negative impact on the environment. They also give off huge amounts of plant-warming methane and breathe out a lot of carbon dioxide!
2) You Find Protein From Other Sources Other Than Meat
Reducing or eliminating meat from your diet not only has numerous health benefits but also demonstrates how we don’t need to rely on animals as a primary food source, especially when there is so much more available to us than ever before. Protein can be consumed through a vareity of ingredients and ways – once you have the tools and knowledge that I’m here to deliver, you will be amazed. For the animal lovers out there: you will ultimately be doing your bit to reduce the popularity of animals being seen purely as food.
3) It’s More Than a Diet of Just Leafy & Raw Vegetables
Ok, we do rather like leafy greens and they are an incredibly important part of the plant-based diet. However, they’re a poor source of calories; if you try to live on purely on calorie dense vegetables you’ll become deficient in calories and nutrients, and ultimately malnourished. Over time your energy levels will decrease and the likelihood of you binging to fill that empty void will only increase. There are endless ingredients readily available to us and soon you will embark on a culinary journey of discovery when you embrace a plant-based diet.
4) It’s Great for Your Health
The plant-based diet is high in antioxidants that are critical to neutralising free radicals that cause aging and chronic disease. Plants are also low in calories and high in nutrients meaning you’ll eat less, feel fuller and be glowing from the inside out. Result!
5) You’ll Save Money
Once you get into the swing of it; supermarket hopping and savvy planning will result in you saving your pennies and pounds. You’ve probably noticed but good, quality meat is expensive, whereas vegetables and fruit cost less. Of course, ‘superfoods’ often have their own hefty price tag but after you’ve done your research you’ll be able to pick out the more affordable options that still have great health benefits.
Adopting the plant-based diet is a complete lifestyle overhaul for some. And with that great scale of change comes habitual challenges. But over time, and some persistence, you’ll get used to the changes and things will become second nature. That’s when the magic happens and you will be offering your top 5 reasons for adopting a plant-based diet!
